Museumspädagogisches Zentrum

As a center for cultural education in and with museums, we offer analog and digital educational programs as well as continuing education courses. Our focus is on schools and other educational institutions, but we are also active in the leisure sector. We see ourselves as a service center and interface for museums.

The focus of our analog offerings is in Munich, but we are active throughout Bavaria with continuing education courses and projects, consulting, and in the digital sector. We also offer materials for individual museum visits and publish handouts for professional museum work. 

We are an institution of the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Munich with over 50 years of expertise.

• Bayerische Museumsakademie (Bavarian Museum Academy)
  Since 2012, we have been offering training and continuing education opportunities throughout Bavaria in the museum and exhibition sector. The Bavarian Museum Academy is a joint institution of the Museum Education Center, the State Office for Non-State Museums in Bavaria, and the Institute for Bavarian History at Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich.
• Fachstelle für Museen und Kulturelle Teilhabe (Department for Museums and Cultural Participation)
  Since June 2025, we have been supporting state museums (arts and culture) in Bavaria in their diversity-sensitive and participation-oriented development. Our work aims to break down structural barriers, embed co-creation, and make diverse perspectives visible.
• Beratungsstelle Kultur macht stark Bayern (Bavarian advice centre Culture Makes Strong)
  Since 2018, we have been providing information and advice on the federal funding program Culture Makes Strong. Alliances for Education and work closely with the Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Bildung Bayern. We network and support local educational landscapes with our events.
• Netzwerk Schule und Museum in Bayern (School and Museum Network in Bavaria)
  We are teachers and see ourselves as a link between schools and museums at the regional and Bavarian level. We network, provide training, create materials, and advise museums on the development of curriculum-based and competence-oriented offerings.

• to initiate wow and aha experiences with our work and to promote creativity, skills, and personal development
• to strengthen democratic and sustainable coexistence in our diverse society
• to contribute to the further development of museums as places and professional museum work
• to promote the role of museums, their objects, and themes in education
